Celebrating the little triumphs

In the busyness of everyday life it's easy to feel like nothing has really been achieved by the end of the day. Working days can feel like they are something to 'get through' as we eagerly await the weekend where we pick up the life we left behind last Sunday. It's easy to overlook the parts of the day that have gone well as we focus on how tired we are, how frustrated we are and how we just wish it was Friday.

I often feel as though I am sinking under the list of things to be done, roles to fulfil and things I think I should be/do. The result is a feeling that I am a bit rubbish at everything. I decided today to reflect on some of the little triumphs in the hope of recognising the things that go well and the things that I do well. Here are some of the little triumphs of today...

★O happily trotted into nursery without calling mama for a 'cuggle' and having to be peeled off me screaming. OK, it broke my heart a little that rice crispies were more appealing than staying with me but I am so glad that she was happy to go to nursery.

★ I managed to tidy my immediate working area, put make up and earrings on before my skype meeting giving the illusion that my home is tidy and that I don't work at home in my pjs.

★ A meeting due to take place in my house has been postponed meaning that I didn't have to spend this evening cleaning.

★ I successfully avoided eating my husbands easter eggs that he hasn't yet finished.

★ J and I did not give in and get a takeaway but ate the boring food in the fridge, saving money and it meant that we didn't throw food away.

★ I was able to have a shower without being interrupted by a toddler.

★ A load of washing was completed and hung out to dry before 10pm.

★ I watched 3 episodes of Spooks on netflix.

Not a bad day really. Hope you've also had lots of little triumphs!
